BUAT APA BANTU SEKOLAH CINA?
The federal government has allocated RM1.1 million to seven Chinese national-type secondary schools and independent schools in Kedah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak announced today.
Among the recipients is the organising committee of the 100th anniversary celebration of Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Keat Hwa 1, here, which has been allocated RM100,000.
The prime minister was at the school for a meet-the-people session and to attend the school's 100th anniversary celebration.
Sekolah Menengah (Persendirian) Sin Min Sungai Petani and Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Keat Hwa received RM200,000 each while SMJK Keat Hwa 2, SMJK Chio Min, SM (Persendirian) Keat Hwa, SM (Persendirian) Sin Min Alor Setar and SMJK Sin Min Sungai Petani received RM100,000 each.
Najib, who is on a one-day visit to the state, handed over the funds to representatives of the schools at the event.
SM (Persendirian) Sin Min board member Ching Chuen Leong said the allocation showed that the prime minister cared for the well-being of such schools.
"National-type and independent schools have been relying on contributions from corporate companies and Parent-Teacher's Associations to finance its operations all this while.
"This assistance will help ease the burden borne by these schools and go a long way in helping to enhance the performance of students," he said.
SM (Persendirian) Sin Min principal Loo Tong Hua said the school management was touched by the gesture and said that they were grateful to the prime minister for the assistance. – Bernama
