Parti Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said on Monday the party respected the advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to stop open discussion on the tussle for the post of Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby, Dr Koh, who is also the Penang BN chairman, said the Prime Minister had also advised everyone concerned on the matter.

Najib, who is also the BN national chairman, had said in Putrajaya on Monday that he did not want the BN component parties to debate the Penang Umno request for the post of Penang BN chairman to be given to the party.
